March Madness and Mrs.T’s!

23 Mar

“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Millennial Central for Mrs. T’s Pierogies. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

As you may remember, last month I had a fabulous girls weekend at Malibu Winery made even more enjoyable by Mrs.T’s Pierogies. This month, I thought what better place to bring these snacks than to a basketball watching party for NCAA March Madness! I must say my bracket is doing even better than expected and I couldn’t be happier that my Arizona Wildcats have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. I’m so excited to see them later in the week hopefully make it to the Elite Eight. Beardown!!

For this Arizona viewing party, everyone was asked to bring some type of finger food. I was so glad I had a few boxes of Mrs.T’s Pierogies stashed in my freezer. I didn’t have a lot of time with my busy work schedule to spend several hours cooking something up, so I was especially happy to have the boxes on hand and ready to whip up fast. I especially love the potato and onion ones! I decided to boil them this time and left them rather simple with just a bit of oil and salt and pepper. They were the perfect game day food, hearty and filling but simultaneously light and not greasy, fried, or salty like a lot of other typical sports-watching snacks. Even though they were on the healthier side they still tasted delicious and et me just say they were definitely the perfect pairing option for a cold beer ;) A win win in my opinion!

Next time I’m at the market I really hope I can find a box of the mini variety or the sweet potato flavor, there are so many different kinds I wish I could try them all! Luckily the wildcats won and advanced to the next round of the tournament so hopefully I will have another watch party to bring them to! I would 100% consider making these again as everyone loved them, even the picky eaters, and they were quick and easy (and affordable!) What are your favorite game day snacks to make or bring? What team are you rooting for this weekend?

Wine, Cheese, and Mrs.T Pierogies Picnic at Malibu Winery!

Mrs.T's Pierogies picnic!

Enjoying Mrs.T’s Pierogies with some fruit, brie, and cupcakes!

Ever since I moved to Los Angeles a few months ago, I always look for new things to explore in the city with my girlfriends. After we all had especially draining weeks at work, we knew that a girls day was truly what we needed to relax and unwind. We decided to have a picnic and enjoy the live music at Malibu Winery this past weekend and had the most amazing time! We each brought a treat to share and enjoyed giggling, snacking, and listening to some great music.

For my dish, I brought Mrs.T’s Pierogies for all of my friends to try. Prior to being contacted for this review, I had never heard of a pierogie and was interested to try it. A pierogie is kind of like a ravioli or dumpling type food filled with potato and other yummy things. I was a bit nervous to participate in the campaign because I am a vegetarian and wasn’t sure if there would be a lot of options for me, but I was so pleasantly surprised when I went into my local Ralph’s and found not just one but three different varieties of Mrs.T’s Pierogies that were completely vegetarian! I made potato and cheddar, potato and four cheese blend, and potato and onion for all of my friends to enjoy.

I tried two of the different suggested methods for preparing them. Half of them I boiled, and half I baked in the oven. I covered them in a simple tomato sauce for a little something extra and they were delicious! In the future I would especially love to try the whole grain sweet potato variety which unfortunately weren’t available at my nearest grocery store. The pierogies were the perfect food for our wine and cheese picnic and were a huge hit. I definitely will be making these in the future when I entertain for friends. They are definitely tasty, easy, and affordable, which are all factors I look for when selecting a food item to make when entertaining. They would even be perfect for a sports watching party, and since my Arizona Wildcats are rocking this basketball season, I definitely will be making these snacks again soon. I’m glad I can keep a few boxes in my freezer to easily make when friends come by on short notice!

Following Up With Dove Clear Tone

8 Nov

“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Dove. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.”

A few weeks ago I posted about my experiences using the new Dove Clear Tone Deodorant. I thought now would be a good time for a follow up post to let you know how my results have been in the long run! You may remember from my previous post that the new Dove deodorant aims to solve several long running issues for women. According to Dove:

  • Shaving can be harsh on underarm skin; in fact, 32 million women in the U.S. experience underarm red and dark marks that result from shaving irritation.
    • As a result of shaving, underarm skin loses 50% more moisture, which can lead to dryness and irritation
  • Dove Clear Tone Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant is designed to reduce red and dark marks in just two weeks, while also providing 1 / 4 moisturizers to replenish skin after women’s daily shaving routines.
    • Specially formulated with Calendula and Sunflower Seed Extracts, Dove Clear Tone accelerates the natural skin renewal process to help restore skin to its natural tone.
  • Dove Clear Tone also offers 48-hour odor and wetness protection and comes in four variants including new Pink Rosa – a floral and fruity fragrance.
  • Dove Clear Tone is available at drugstores nationwide. You can find more information at Dove.com

As you can see that is a host of problems! Luckily I have yet to experience any of these since I began using the new Dove Clear Tone products. I even had a friend visit for the weekend whom I gifted the bonus one they sent me, and she loved it too! I especially like that the fragrances are subtle and not overpowering, and it seems to be effective throughout the day without needing to reapply.

Have you tried the new Dove Clear Tone products yet? What has been your experience with them? Which is your favorite? As always I’m excited to hear what you think!

Kate Spade Tech Accessories

4 Nov

When I was doing major credit card damage innocently browsing online the other day for some stocking stuffer ideas, I couldn’t help but pick out a few items I wouldn’t mind treating myself to. I don’t have an iPhone 5 or an iPad (yet), but I’m absolutely adoring Kate Spade’s little cinema-themed collection she has going on right now. Since I work at a major film studio and movies are kind of my thing, I wish all of these items came in an iPhone 4 or laptop version :( Oh well, I guess for now I’ll have to settle for living vicariously through one of you!

This turquoise “Admit One” iPhone 5/5s case has gorgeous gold detailing on the ticket, and is even on sale for just $26!

The classic movie snob in me is lusting over this case you have no idea. I love the vintage vibe and fun nostalgia of this iPhone 5/5s case, also on sale for only $26.

This iPad case is so fun! A tablet is definitely on my wishlist for this holiday season. On sale now for $33.49 :)

Again I’m just dying over this fabulous print. So timeless and perfect! Also on sale for $33.49… le sigh.

What do you think about these tech accessories? Would you recommend I upgrade to the iPhone 5? I’m still not sure how I even feel about the 4.

Currently Loving: Kate Spade Holiday Gifts

1 Nov

Oh my gosh y’all. I was doing a little internet window shopping during lunch yesterday and I think I can officially say I’m obsessing over the new Kate Spade holiday items over at Nordstroms. These would make the most adorable gifts for your girlfriends, mom, boss, and any other fabulous woman on your list this year! Which one would you most like to see in your stocking?

This striped thermal mug is perf for your morning cup of joe. Add a Starbucks card and that’s one gift down! $18.

This “break the ice” insulated tumbler is not only adorbs but totally perfect for my ice tea addiction :) Warning: it also comes in stripes and polka dots! $18.

This dainty and feminine jewelry holder would look perfect on your nightstand or bathroom counter. I would love to put my jewelry in this before heading off to bed. $40.

These scented candles are delightfully preppy with a variety of patterns and scents. Tres chic! $40.

I’ve always been a Kate Spade fan but I think she really hit it out of the park with this year’s holiday collection. What would you most love to give or receive this holiday season?

Influenster #VarsityVoxBox Revealed!

30 Oct

I was so excited to receive Influenster’s latest Voxbox a few weeks ago. Now that I have had time to try out all of the products, I can’t wait to show you what I got and tell you about them!

What I loved:

I especially loved the NYC Big Bold Plumping Lip Gloss. It is so slick and shiny and stayed on all night through a girl’s night out in Hollywood this weekend! I would definitely recommend this lip gloss, especially at the price of  $3.60.

I also really loved the Airheads Xtreme Bites. I’m not a huge sour candy fan, but these are waaay better than sour punch straws and might officially be my new go-to movie candy. A bunch of my sorority sisters from college were around my apartment this weekend and we devoured the entire bag almost the second we opened it.

What I liked:

I really liked the convenience of the Tide PODS Detergent. Detergent and fabric softener are in one little packaged ball that you just toss in with your wash and go. This is especially great for people using common laundry facilities because you don’t have to lug around a heavy bottle of detergent. I say this is not a love because I’m committed to trying to use unscented and dye-free products where possible and this does not fall into that category.

I also had mixed feelings about the Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Gel Wash. It cleaned my face and smelled good, but in general I try to avoid putting dyed and scented products on my face, so it’s probably not something I would purchase for myself, but if you are looking for a new face wash give this one a try!

Meh:

I received another set of Kiss Nail Dress adhesive nails. These have come in other voxboxes, and while I think the patterns are fun, I don’t wear any type of fake nails because they freak me out. I will probably gift these to someone, although they could come in handy for Halloween.

If you want to receive boxes of fun free samples, I definitely recommend signing up with Influenster! I have only a few invites left, and if you would like one send me an email or comment on this post! Have you tried any of these products? Which are your favorite?

Currently Loving: The Bouqs Company

25 Oct

I love to send (and receive) fresh flowers, but often times the ones available at online retailers just aren’t the quality I expect, and seem totally overpriced. Enter: The Bouqs Company. Literally rethinking the entire concept of online flower ordering, each bouquet is handpicked from a sustainable farm partner located on volcanic property in equatorial South America. Each farmer is paid a living wage and offered services like healthcare and continuing education. “Bouqs” are cut on the same day you order them and arrive at their destination (with free shipping!) just 4 days later, meaning the flowers are always fresh.

40 different bouqs are available for just $40 flat – that’s it, plain and simple. They also offer subscription packages for a discount. Not only am I a big fan of their sustainable and fair business practices, but the beauty and price can’t be beat. Take a look at these beauties and consider shopping Bouqs the next time you need occasion flowers. (P.S. This isn’t a sponsored post, just trying to share an awesome company with you guys!) BONUS: Use any Bouqs link in this post for $10 off!

Above and Beyond, $40

Lush Us, $40

The Fix, $40

Harvest Moon, $40

Have you ever tried Bouqs before? Which ones are your favorite?

Rachel

The Little Market by Lauren Conrad

24 Oct

Lauren Conrad has recently helped start a fair trade gift shop called The Little Market! Is there anything this girl doesn’t do perfectly? *Sigh* Love her and all of the adorable goodies that you can  purchase while supporting independent female handicraft artists in places like Nepal, Peru, India, and Bolivia. It’s definitely about that time to start thinking about holiday gift-giving, and I think any of these fabulous items would be just darling in someone’s stocking. What do you think about LC’s fair trade venture? What’s your favorite item from the shop? Here are a few of my faves:

copper candle The Little Market

Copper Candle, $38
