Happy new year everyone! I’m still somewhat in break mode but I promise I will get back to posting regularly soon. While catching up on e-mail after coming home from my week-long family vacation, I was happily surprised by an e-mail from Jessica of What I Wore telling me that I won her FEED USA and GAP giveaway! I am beyond excited about the new totebag which I received in the mail just the other day. Here is how I styled it for going out to lunch with old friends today (we even got to sit outside in the 65 degree weather):
What I’m wearing: American Apparel winter leggings, Target tank top, JCrew cardigan, Charming Charlie’s scarf, vintage earrings and ring, Banana Republic bracelet (a Hanukkah gift from the boyfriend :)
In the new year’s spirit of wishes and resolutions, here’s a quote of my wish for the world which won Jessica’s contest:
If I could give anything to the world, I would give tolerance. I believe that too many people cannot rid their hearts of hatred for ways of life which they refuse to understand or accept. It is my hope that one day people from many different backgrounds, beliefs, and practices will be able to live free from judgement and discrimination.
Not too shabby, eh? What do you wish for the world in this upcoming year? The neat thing about these bags from Gap is that they are not only made in the United States, but $5 from the sale of each bag goes towards special charitable projects which you get to see online and select which one to donate to yourself. I selected to donate my share to an elementary school in Texas wanting to buy a video camera to enrich school projects. I did learn about some controversy regarding these bags when I read a post at Adored Austin which showed that some of the bags might be made in China. Luckily, Gap has cleared up the confusion and you can continue purchasing in confidence! (Read more about the issue by clicking on the Adored Austin link.)
I can’t wait to use this bag to do my grocery shopping and other errands where I try to avoid using plastic bags. Thanks again Jessica!
PS….. technically this is my first outfit post. What do y’all think? Should I try another one soon?
