New Product Crush: Güd by Burt’s Bees

23 Nov

I was roaming the aisles of Target the other day when something new caught my eye. I was looking for a new body wash to try when I spotted Güd products, a new line by Burt’s Bees brand. They all smelled wonderful, but I went home with the Vanilla and Rice Milk body wash and am absolutely in love! Not only is my skin the softest it’s ever been, but I love that it is made of all natural ingredients with no petro chemicals, or artificial dyes or fragrances. If you “like” them on Facebook this week, you can even get a $1 off coupon so that you can try them out too! So far my impression of this new line is fabulous and I can’t wait to try out more of their products. Have you tried any of the Güd products? What did you think? Which flavor is your favorite?

Favorite New Beauty Products!

16 Dec

I’m always hesitant and a little nervous to try out new beauty products. Simply put, I like my products and I like what they do. But, you never know what else is out there unless you’re willing to give it a shot right? Right. So with bravery and an openness to trying new things and mind, I was absurdly excited to get a “voxbox” in the mail from Influenster. The box was full of samples of fun health and beauty products that I can’t wait to try! Here’s a rundown of all the goodies I found inside: (Click images for more info!)

I received one set of imPRESS press-on nails. With nail designs being totally trendy right now, I can't wait to see how these compare to other at-home speed manicure kits! I received the color "Over the Moon."

I was ecstatic to see the New York Color liquid lipshine lipgloss in "Nude York City." I've been wanting a nude-colored gloss and this is going to be perfect!

I received Mentos PURE gum in "fresh mint" flavor. I love that it's made with green tea extract, and comes in a nun-crushable plastic case- perfect for my backpack or carry-on!

ProActiv has a new product, X Out, which is a low-maintenance face wash which promises to help eliminate acne. I personally (luckily) never had too much of an issue with this, but the bottle also says it can be used as a spot treatment, so I'll be trying it out next time I get a pimple.

I'm always on the lookout for a great new snack bar that is tasy, filling, and healthy. My voxbox contained a coconut cream pie bar and I know it's going to be delicious! I also want to try a few of the chocolate flavors :)

I've always been a fan of the Softsoap brand, and I'm sure I'll love their new exfoliating body bar. Plus, I'm a big coconut fan.

Not gonna lie, face masks kind of scare me. But this European company promises a smooth result, and I love the special note on the back emphasizing that the products are all natural, vegetarian, and never tested on animals!

What are some of your favorite health and beauty buys? Anything you would suggest I try? Have you ever tried any of these products? If so, what did you think of them? I can’t wait to share my experiences with you!

Kicking It Into Gear

23 Jan

Way back a few months ago when Oprah ran her favorite things episode, she highlighted a few gym items that she loved. Here are some of my new gym favorites inspired by a few of her picks.

Oprah's List athletic

From left to right: Vera Bradley small duffel, $69, Lulu Lemon athletic pants, $98, Nike Free Run shoes, $85, Champion sneakers by Payless, $35, American Apparel yoga pants, $35, American Apparel gym bag, $32.

Since writing my new year’s goals check-in post the other day, I’ve been hard at work on another resolution- getting into shape! Now let me preface this by saying I’m not trying to lose any weight. I’m a size zero. Maybe a two. And that’s thin enough…. but that doesn’t mean I can neglect my physical health. In high school I was relatively athletic, because regardless of what some people think cheerleading is actually pretty demanding. But since moving on to college I’m so exhausted after class and other activities that it seems like such a nuisance to drag my butt to the gym.

Center Stage

16 Oct

Greetings from LA! Just my luck that the warm weather left as soon as I got here… Unfortunately it’s been cold and rainy the entire weekend- but we’re still making the best of it. Tune in later this week for a complete run down of my relaxing weekend in the city :) To tide you over until then, I thought I’d write a little about one of my new favorite beauty trends.

ballerina/ballet pedicure inspiration

When I was little, putting on my tights and my leotard to head off to ballet lessons was one of my favorite parts of the week. Come to think of it, I may have even donned a tutu for the occasional recital. While those days may be long gone, I recently find myself drawn to ballet-inspired trends. My favorite for the moment is nude nail polish. I went for a pedicure the other day and decided to try a nude color for the first time, foregoing my usual hot pink or electric blue. I was hesitant at first because I thought it might be a little tame for me, but the result is classic, polished, and oh so feminine! For now I purchased a cheap drug store brand which is similar so that I can paint them myself. (On a college student’s budget a real salon pedicure is a bit of a splurge.) However, for the holidays I might ask my parents to treat me to this one from Chanel- tres chic! Designer nail polishes could make a great stocking stuffer for the fashionista in your life.

Bisous,

Rachel

Night Moves

10 Oct

Happy Sunday everyone! One thing the weekend really does for me is allow me to catch up on sleep. I can’t believe how tired I am after a long week of classes. For me, getting ready for bed is a relaxing and repetitive process. I happen to be a very light sleeper… Unfortunately, this means I require some very specific and unusual things to sleep soundly and peacefully through the night.

Fabulously Frugal

23 Sep

Let’s face it, if there’s one thing every girl spends way too much money on, it’s beauty products. I have slowly been trying to replace all of my designer brand make up with drugstore brands, but the process is going slowly. At least I can say that I’m using my frugal fashionista skills to get the best possible deals on the items I am willing to splurge on. Take yesterday for example: I went to Sephora.com to order a new powder that I’m almost out of. Before checking out, I visited http://www.retailmenot.com and scored some awesome promo codes for free shipping and extra free product samples. Continue reading
